The Juniper Building in Joshua Tree serves the needs of professional ceramic artists by providing work space and equipment to supplement their studio and increase their capabilities. It is also a place to meet other ceramicists, share ideas and buy clay.

We are located close to Hwy 62, near the center of town in Joshua Tree. We have a 2500 square foot, air conditioned ceramics studio equipped with a large and small kilns, pug mills, extruders, slab rollers, potter’s wheels and a glazing station. There is an in-house clay store with over 20 kinds of clay for sale, or you can mix and recycle your own clay with our pug mill. We have enough space with tables with stools for classes and workshops.

Members can use the space for large projects, production runs, and to conduct workshops. Carts or wheeled racks are available to store work. Membership starts at $300 a month, no obligation to renew.

Whether you prefer solo work or community connection, our studio adapts to your artistic rhythm. Membership Includes:

24 hours a day, 7 days a week controlled access to the studio
Firing of work created during membership
Storage space and a cart
Use of kitchenette and bathroom with changing room and shower.

Two pug mills, large and small
Three throwing wheels.
Two slab rollers.
Three extruders, four inch, five inch and six inch.
Glaze station with spray booth, brushes, scales, glaze fountain and other glaze mixing tools and a small selection of standard glazes.
Tools, containers and other accessories are available.

Rules & Requirements

All members must be 18 years of age or older.

Experienced members only. Instruction is not included. They do need to fire their work.

Clean up after yourself. Clay, glazes, tools, etc. need to be stored away and the space used is cleaned at the end of each work session.

Respect the work space of other members and don’t disturb them unnecessarily.

Rules & Requirements

All members must be 18 years of age or older; no exceptions. Members need to have previous pottery experience and be able to work as a pottery studio member independently. This means they have the ability to make, trim, and glaze without needing any instruction.

Please keep in mind that we are not a production studio. We reserve the right to limit the number of pieces fired for an individual to make room for other member pieces to get fired.

Personal clay, glazes, tools, ect. need to be taken home at the end of each work session.

The Studio reserves the right to revoke membership privileges if any member fails to abide by these requirements.
